چکیده

Abstract We evaluated the diagnostic accuracy of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) for screening hormone deficiency (GHD) to determine usefulness IGF-1 as a test. Among 298 consecutive children who had short stature or decreased height velocity, we measured levels and performed (GH) secretion test using clonidine, arginine, and, in cases with different results two tests, L-dopa. Patients congenital abnormalities were excluded. GHD was defined peak GH ≤ 6.0 ng/mL tests. identified 60 238 patients without GHD, respectively. The mean standard deviation (SD) not significantly between non-GHD groups (p = 0.23). Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis demonstrated best at an cutoff − 1.493 SD, 0.685 sensitivity, 0.417 specificity, 0.25 positive 0.823 negative predictive values, 0.517 area under curve. Correlation revealed that none items patients’ characteristics increased power IGF-1. level poor GHD. Therefore, should be used alone screening. A biomarker developed future.

AIM To contribute to the debate about whether growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) act independently on the growth process. RESULTS Since the descri...
